Really depressed people are almost catatonic!. They don't
respond to much, have little facial expression and stare a
lot at nothing imparticular!. Their main goal in life is to be
dead while alive!. Body language is slumped, eyes are
unfocused and there's not a lot of blinking!. They walk
with shoulders hunched, eyes down!.!.a sort of awake
sleep walking!. They have one word responses in general
and don't initiate conversation!. If somebody asks them
a question (or you in your role), pause, as though you
really havn't heard them, then wait, stare off and only
give back a one word response if you have to!. Shrugging
is a way of dismissing intrusive questions if one should
be asked!. Just sit in a chair for a while and pretend you
don't have anyone in your life!. No family, no loves, no
friends, no job, no money, no hope!. Think of what it
would be like to have nothing to look forward to in
your life!. Pretend on top of this that you've just been
sentenced to 25 years in prison with no possibility
of parole!. If you can't portray a depressed person
after this, try another profession!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You remember being depressed--but not the way you've been doing it!.

First, you need to do physical and mental relaxation exercises to remove all tensions!.

Then, vividly recall one time when you got depressed!. You need to focus on sensory recall--what did you see (in detail), smell, see, taste, feel!. Somewhere in that memory is an "emotional trigger", a tiny sensory detail that will bring back that emotion--it might be the sight of a button, the smell of salt, the feel of the carpet on which you stood!.

If you repeat this exercise three times and get the same emotion by recalling the trigger each time, then it's a good one and you can use it!.

Now, also observe depressed people (get psychology videos, or ask to observe at a clinic)!. Take from their postures and expressions and let it inform your physical acting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
