Question: When casting a play, do they usually cast the minor roles first or vice versa!?
Or is it different with every theater group!? I'm just wondering because my daughter auditioned for a community theater play yesterday and auditions ran until noon today!. She's performed in three plays with this particular community theater in the past, always getting a little better roles with each performance!. Her friends have all been called already today and cast, but we've noticed they've all gotten somewhat minor roles!. She hasn't been called yet and is on pins and needles!. Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that they start with the minor roles first!.!.!. then do call backs and choose the leads!. I have been in a few plays in which it has been done in this way!!!
Congratulations on your daughter!!! I hope that she gets a lead!!!
What play is it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure!.!.!.!.I don't want to get your daughter's hopes up, but they would probably call the major roles last! However, they may of called the major roles FIRST because they need to accept/decline their roles!. I am about 88% positive that the major roles are called last, however!. Good luck to your daughter! Would you mind telling us if she gets a lead and what play it is!? I'm interested to hear!

They usually case the major roles first, then decide who gets the minor roles after that, with whoever is left!. Being a production manager once, we had to pick the major roles, then whoever's left, we give those the minor roles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You always cast the leads first, then the minor roles!. Just hang in there!. They should also call if you were not cast!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
