I was in a musical version of "that" play called Macvita & we did that on Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2 years in a row!. The 2nd time I did it, Leona Connery (Sean's niece) was playing Lady MacBeth!. Nothing happened to me because all that stuff is a lot of garbage, as is the play!. The real story of MacBeth was totally far removed from that play!. He was actually one of our better Dark Age Kings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. I've seen it twice, the last time was a few years ago with Derek Jacobi and Cheryl Campbell!. They were brilliant but all the scenes that they weren't in were very bad - like the director wasn't bothered!.

EDIT:
It was supposed to be bad luck to say Macbeth because in the old days of touring and rep theatre actors would have to know the most famous of the Shakespeare plays as standard!. If a particular tour wasn't going well it would be scrapped and to fill up the venues that had already been booked, the touring players would do one of the standards, like Macbeth!. So, if anybody mentioned the "Scottish Play" in a theatre, it was usually the start of a rumour that your play was going to be cancelled!

also, myth has it that the witch's curses used in the play were actual curses!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The superstition surrounding MACBETH is a load of tosh!.
It has gained a reputation for bad luck for a far more prosaic reason: it's a b@st@rd of a play to put on!
Special effects, battle scenes, attempts to stage the witches' scenes without cliches or unintentional humour (thanks a bundle, T!. Pratchett!), Banquo's ghost, the climactic fight, plus the unusually high number of actors' egos to placate, possess pitfalls just waiting to happen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From what I heard, the myth came from that because if you're doing a crap play, the producer might hear you!. Then he'll scrap what you're doing, fire you and put on something good!. Kind of a running joke in theater that took a life of it's own!.

By the way, it's cool to say Macbeth as long as you're not in a theater!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of the time, the odd things that happen happen to the cast who are performing, not the audience attending!. Some people hold absolutely no truth to "The Scottish Play" curse and go around saying "Macbeth" all the time!. I've also heard the "curse" transformed just a bit to "mention of the play UNLESS YOU'RE REHEARSING / PERFOMRING MACBETH" But I was in a Shakespearean company where Macbeth was mentioned hundreds of times and nothing bizarre happened!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
