Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
study the main part!. then wish that the person playing that character messes up so u can say!.!.!."no, it's like this!.!.!." then act really well and show everyone how good you are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are no small parts, only small actors!.
Do your best to add to the production!. As this article I found below says, you're there for a reason; every character has an important part that the playwright thought of!. Find out what it is and shine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well just pretend that you got the best part in the play and rub it in peoples face mack them want the part!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Make it the best part!.!. You say you are the best, then prove it!. If you try to mess it up for everyone,
you won't do yourself any good and when you get older you will regret it!.
Take the bad part and steal the show!.
I think "break a leg" is in order!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i've had this happen, but it was only because the other person was better at that particular part!. different people are good for different parts!

dont be upset, and PLEASE! you saying "im the best actor" scares me!. ive known people who are so cocky that they get turned down for jobs before they even leave job interviews!. being cocky will make you no friends, get you NO parts, and NO sympathy for when you don't do well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you just wanted to mess up the play then good for you for getting a small part!. If you didnt want to mess up the play then just deal with and act it out to the max, become your role even if it is tiny! Getting small parts has happened to me but now i get a lot of leads you just have to wait for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're the best actor, huh!? Humble, too!

Obviously the director didn't think you were best for the part you wanted!. But he did think you were the best for the part he cast you in, so explore that character and make production better!.!.!.don't be selfish and mess up the play for everyone else!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think whoever did the parts out obviously knows that youre a good actor, and is maybe trying to let some of the others into the limelight!. Ive seen that happen before, where the evidently best person has to step out of a whole production she is used that much!.
Then again, maybe your teacher/tutor,!. whoever is sort of testing you, seeing if you can cope on a smaller scale as well as taking the main lead!. It may sound daft, but that can be just as hard playing the understudy, or hard for an actor whos usually into immense roles to suddenly lapse!. And thats the part where s/hes testing your flexibility between roles!.
I would take in the head as that for now, as seething as you many feel!. If continues to give you small roles after then- its confrontation time!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Whew! Well, you may be the most conceited of them all!. Like the others said, There are no small (or bad) parts, only small (or bad) actors!. A real professional actor would take your role and make it outstanding because they would be more concerned with the success of the play than their personal glory!. If you are more concerned about your personal glory than having a good show, drop out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honestly, as a director, I would not want someone with that attitude in my play!.

Theatre is all about teamwork!. If you cannot enjoy or learn from the experience, you should definitely drop out now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you take your small part, and follow directions, and do it well, you'll get a better part in the next play, because the director will know you can be depended upon!.

If you mess up the play on purpose, the audience will be laughing AT you, not WITH you, and you'll never get another part, good or bad, for the rest of your time at school!.

Your choice!. There are probably plenty of students who would have been happy with your small part!. Maybe you should drop out now and let one of them have it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Supporting actors are called supporting actors because they are stronger and they support the lead!. Without them there would be little or no reality in the play!. Take your part and make the most of it or quit!. The audience sees everyone on stage, even the background players with no lines!. If you have talent you'll shine regardless of the length of time that you appear on stage!. If you can, get a copy of "Julia" there is a scene on a train between Jane Fonda and a young woman who has under five lines if any!. Look at that scene and then watch the credits for the name of that actress!. That was here first major motion picture and her talent shines through!. Can you guess her name!? It was Meryl Streep!. When you can act at that level then you'll move on to bigger and better parts; but everybody has to pay their dues!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honey, maybe that person fit the description better!. You where chosen because you are the best person in the group to play the part!. Prove to the director that you ARE the best actor in the group and you deserved to have the part!.

GOOD LUCK!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can make your small part shine and steal the show!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just make it your own, and stay self-confident! You can do it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

you may feel that you were the best actor and that may be true (i've never seen you act so i dont know), but unfortunately you got cast below your claimed rank!. this is bound to happen more than once in the acting world!. the director may have seen a spark in some the other actors that he/she feels can be developed under proper tending!. or perhaps you just got the short stick this time!. calm down and don't worry about it!. if you mess up this play (especially intentionally) than how can you expect to get into the next one!. just relax and do your part well and get a better one next time!. who knows, maybe someone may have to drop out, or may not be successful at their part and so you might get it!. break a leg in the play and have fun :D

EDIT experience does not neccesarily get a part in a play, mostly it just gets you an oppurtunity for considerationWww@QuestionHome@Com

There are no bad parts, only bad actors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow! Jealous much!?

I have been doing this for much longer than you have been drawing breath, and I still feel lucky if I get the chance to act with someone who can blow me off the stage!. What a rush!

No small parts only small actors!? What a crock!. Of COURSE there are small parts!. That smug little phrase used to infuriate me!. It took me a long time to realize that the second part of the phrase is the only one to believe!. Small parts teach you huge things!. !.!.!.!.!.!.!.Like!?!.!.!.!.!.

Like how to keep your eyes open, how to learn, how to not steal focus, how Leads are not Better than you, just more suited for the role, how everyone is vital to a production, and what a blast Chorus is!.

Anthony Quinn won an Oscar for about a minute of screen time!. Dame Judi Dench won one for even less screen time!. The time, the line count, and your perceived importance of the character don't mean Jack!. Only acting matters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just because your have more experience than the others doesn't make you any better than they are!. also you may be better suited to another genre, time period, character, play than this one!. Of course it's ok to be a bit disappointed at first but I think you should be happy about your part and of course not mess up they play!. also just try and remember that in the future you will most certainly get better and worse parts than this and dealing with the disappointments is just a part of this harsh industry!. Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no such thing as a bad part!.
Every part is important to support the play!.
I know your feeling!.
My drama program at my school is so bias!.
The director was an alumni of my school, so he always picks the popular aka people he know for the parts!.
Even though they suck!.
So I don't always get a lead!.
So I just forget it and still get on with the play!.
You can do the same!.
Or quit!.
It's really up to you!.
We all know they aren't good but just do it!.
If you really LOVE preforming then it won't matter!.
Don't sweat it and just love it!.
Hope it helps!
Break a leg!Www@QuestionHome@Com
