Well several actually!.!.It's a tragedy for instance!.!.It involves deaths of central characters!.It's a romance-they died for love!.!.but if you want to break it up!.!.The most obvious theme being hatred!.Two families loath each other & because of this affects the city of verona!.because most of their brawls are in public places!.theres also the theme of vengeance!.tybalt slays mercutio, romeo slays tybalt(eye for an eye) and the capulets want romeo dead!.
analizing romeo and juliet,we tend to wonder whether there was actual love!?they were extremely young(the young star crossed lovers)!.if there wasnt any rivalry between the two families would they actually fall in love!?also what about the theme of wisdom gone wrong!?friar lawrence and his want to bring about peace through the young lovers failed!.Towards the end,he doesnt seem like worthy man either,he leaves juliet to herself and flees from the tomb!.Remeber he is a religous man!.!.
Well i hope this helps!.!.(there are several more underlying themes ofcourse)!.!.good luck!.!.!.
