Question: What would you sing if you tried out for 'The Sound of Music'!?
I'm auditioning for 'The Sound of Music' and I'm not quite sure what I should do!. I'm 17 so I was thinking about trying out for Leisl, but I can still get a lead at my age!. I just don't think I have the type of voice for anyone other than Leisl!. The audition says I can audition w/ a song from the musical but I'd perfer not!.

What song would you sing!? It has to be from a musical!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd recommend a part of the song "Moments in the Woods" from Into the Woods; "It's a Fine, Fine Line" from Avenue Q; "I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked; or "Somewhere That's Green" from Little Shop of Horrors!. They are close to the same key as Leisl, and I think it'll be great :)

Personally, I'd never recommend doing a song from the musical you are auditioning for, unless it is requested!. Directors will tend to be more critical of you then!.

also, be sure to act the song out don't stand in one spot!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would either sing the hills are alive or I am sixteen going on seventeen!. Or the do re mi song!. If you are quite strong vocally I would go for the hills are alive!. If your singing is a little less than perfect I would go for the last two!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would sing something like happy talk or younger than springtime from south pacific!.
Happy talk is best if you don't have a very big range!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
