Question: Im doing the play "fiddler on the roof"!. and im writting a program!. what are the scene titles!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Do not bother to set the scenes in the program!. Do it by musical numbers

Set it as thus:

The Place: Anatevka, a small village in Russia
The Time: 1905, on the eve of the Russian revolutionary period!.

Musical Numbers

Act I

Prologue--Tradition
Matchmaker
If I Were A Rich Man
Sabbath Prayer
To Life
Tevye's Monologue
Miracle of Miracles
The Dream
Sunrise Sunset

Act II

Now I Have Everything
Tevye's Rebuttal
Do You Love Me!?
The Rumor (sometimes cut, leave it out if cut)
Far From The Home I Love
Chava Ballet (it is called the Chava Sequence in the script, but Ballet sounds better)
Anatevka
Exodus-Finale

For the record, the scenes are:
Act One:
Prologue
I:i: Kitchen in Tevye's house
I:ii: exterior of Tevye's house
I:iii: interior of Tevye's house
I:iv: the Inn
I:v: street outside the Inn
I:vi: on a bench outside Tevye's house
I:vii: Tevye's bedroom
I: viii: village street and Motel's tailor shop
I: ix: section of Tevye's yard

Act Two

II:iv: village street
II:v: Motel's tailor shop
II: vi: somewhere on the outskirts of the village
II:vii: the barn
II:viii: outside Tevye's house
Epilogue

You can see why naming the musical numbers not only saves space, but makes a lot more sense to the audience!.

If you are naming the musical numbers, for pity's sake DO NOT name "Crossover" "Incidental" "Entr'acte" and the like!. Only the ones that are sung!.

I recently closed this show, playing Tevye, and fulfilling a childhood dream!. It was everything and nothing like what I expected!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The scenes wouldn't be titles per se, only the songs!. The scenes would be listed by location!. For instance -

Scene One - Anatevka
Scene Two - Lazar Wolf's House
etc!.

(These are just examples!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com
