Question: I need help w/ my monologue!!?
Ok, I'm playing a teen who gets impregnated and contemplates abortion, but ultimately give birth to the baby!. I'm to close the play with a monologue about how I picked the road less travelled, and how choices have consequences!. I need some pointers, please! It's my first time acting (in a school play, no less), so I *really* need some help with drafting my monologue! Suggestions much appreciated!! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, make sure you know the whole play!.
Know the story!.
Know your character and what the story means to your character!.
Know why your character is saying what she is saying in the monologue!. Know what those words mean to her!.
Feel what it means to say those words!.
also, going back to knowing your character, know her WELL:
know really who she is!. If you don't have enough clues as to who she is, then fill in the blanks, but in a way that makes sense to the story, the period, etc!.
Make sure you know your lines really, really, really, really well so that they are second nature!. That is the last thing you want to be thinking about while on stage!. If you are trying to remember your lines, it will be obvious and it will take away from the reality of the scene!.
Here is a method I use to memorize lines!. http://www!.actingcareerstartup!.com/memor!.!.!.

Once you think you have practiced your lines enough, continue and keep practicing!

Good luck to you!

First thing you have to do is become the impregnated teen!. Yeah, that's right!. No, haha, I mean with your mind!. Imagine that your boyfriend or your crush impregnated you!. Now try the monolouge again!. Remember to always act out a little more then you think is needed!. Big hand gestures, facial expressions, and a loud voice is always required!. You cannot count on mics!. Technology is no excuse, it can break any minute!. Your voice must always be strong!. Even though you think people cannot see your face, they can!. Make it seem real, but dont overexaggerate the drama!. Make your tone kind of melacholy, and sad, but some how happy because you learned something and so on!.
