We were always taught that the prepared actor had at least ten audition pieces that he/she would be ready to do at the drop of a hat!. I think most of the answers here are correct: when you stop thinking about what you are doing, something has gone wrong!. There is a famous story about the Broadway production of a hit play which had hit the 500th performance!. There were two actors who had to perform a scene prior to the denouement, which was crucial!. They came off stage and one suddenly turned to the other and said 'Oh my gosh we just forgot to do that scene-we just skipped it!' As they started to race back to take their places to enter and get the scene in, the stage manager came up behind them and said 'You can relax, you just did it!.' So even professionals can be 'overly familiar' with material!. It's best to have enough varied pieces that it doesn't happen to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a fellow actress, I feel that if you over rehearse a piece you become over familiar with it and may risk forgetting it, which could be extremly embarassing!!! good luck with it anywayWww@QuestionHome@Com

Try a varied set of audition pieces, it's stops you from becoming stale, bored and uninteresting, remember variety is the spice of life, and people like spice and variety!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally, I think that it is possible to over rehearse a script!. Sometimes you can get to familiar with it and the words begin to flow out of your mouth without you even realizing what you are saying!. Maybe you should continue the script you are reading, but read others to keep your mind awake!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can definitely over-rehearse a script or scene!. One of the worst things about doing this is actually forgetting your lines because you've said them so much!. You should probably have several scenes that you use for auditions, just to keep things varied!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
