Hands in the picture should be fine!. Depending on the acting company you apply for, even 3/4 shots can be acceptable!.

Community shows and high school plays are totally acceptable on resumes! The only thing is, if you have other professional stuff that's more recent, don't clutter it with high school credits!. People don't want to hear about your high school play from 1985 if you have professional theatre experience since then!. But if you're starting fresh and you need something to put on, community theatre and school plays are better than nothing!

Hope that helps, and good luck landing a part,

Of course it is, it builds up a picture of the kind of person you are and proves your interest in these areas!!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Include all shows you have been on and try to get another picture, actually, two, a headshot and a full body, try to look your best at both of them but I wouldn't suggest that cute bar mitzvah picWww@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely put your school plays and community theater on your resume!. And about your headshot, I can't really say because I haven't seen it!. But it isn't supposed to look too much like a photo where you pose and smile!. It doesn't have to be just your head though so it is fine to have your hands in it!. Since you are smiling, it is probably a good commercial headshot but you'll need more for theatrical/dramatic roles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hands in your headshot should not be a problem!. just make sure it has your whole face and not too much of the rest of your body!.

as for the resume, put any and every show, workshop, theatre camp, etc!. anything that has to do with performing on it!. the more thats on it, the better it looks to a director or agent!. Just make sure its organized and easy to read!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

community theatre is what you should be building your resume with, only put the most important of school plays on it!. You also need some professional classes!. Your head shot sounds too posed and formal, you wand a 'personality' shot that looks like you and shows your sparkle!. Don't spend a lot on photos before you have an agent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with TheatreDocWww@QuestionHome@Com

Not having seen the photo it's hard to say if it's ok as a headshot!. I think it's best if you look at examples online and see if it compares favorably to them!. Look at these photographer's examples of heashots:
http://www!.nancyjophoto!.com
http://www!.kelseyedwardsphoto!.com/headsh!.!.!.
http://www!.michaelsanville!.com/headshots!.!.!.

There are tons of other photogs online, look at any you please but make sure they specialize in actor headshots!. A hand in the photo is not that big a deal and smiling is great for a commercial shot but not so much for theatrical!. For getting an agent it may be fine but your agent will likely tell you to get new pictueres when you sign, just so you know!.

For the resume, absolutely put any real theatre experience you have!. When agents see theatre experience they see someone who can handle themselves in a live situation such as a commercial audition where things are generally improv because in theatre things often happen and when you're stage you just have to deal with them! No retakes!

Put your training as well!. Whatever classes you are taking!. Make sure you only have 1 page!. If your experience is extensive, leave off credits where you did not have a big role, etc!. also, instead of listing your school list the name of the venue such as Miller Auditorium or Miller Theatre instead of Miller High School or whatever!.

Here's an example of what your resune should look like http://www!.actingbiz!.com/articles/resume!.!.!. If there's a section where you have no experience, don't put that section on your resume!. For instance if you have no Film or TV roles then leave those off for now!. It would be best if you could get some though!.!.!. get into some student projects!. Most colleges have film departments and those students need actors!. Call your local colleges and ask the film department how their students cast their projects!. Get in on that, it's a great way to build experience and your resume!

good luck,

There is a big difference between an actor's headshot and other types of photos!.
For a professional-looking headshot, you would need to go to someone who specializes in that!. I don't think the photo you described would be seriously considered by agents or casting directors!.

Having said that, if you are young and using it for community theatre purposes, that is another story!. It is ok to put community/school theatre on a resume for now- just don't say "Bellville Middle School"- say "Bellville Players" or "Bellville Theatre"!.

Those credits should be removed as you gain more impressive experience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
