Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Creating a drama character (physical aspects) need help?

Question:First, I am basing a character on somebody I already know on real life- physically, I mean.

I need to add something, i.e. a lisp, or a limp to the character.

The person I am basing it on has an accent, ...

I don't want to add a lisp/limp/or make her overweight. And obviously, I can't add an accent because she already has one.

Can somebody help me think of something physical, i.e. a broken arm, that I can embody easily?

THANKS!

Give them a twitching problem or nervous tick, it will always seem real and even though you dont want too much that has to do with her speech you can simply add a stutter. Just don't do all of those....good luck!<3

Give them a slight nervous tick.

A scar could be an easy way or an obvious bump on the face...these could work quite well...could have an interesting story behind it

Possibly asthma attack...i don't know whether you want to act that out but its a suggestion

When creating a character you have to constantly question everything you create about this person! You cant give them a physical defect without a reason...
Think about this person you are basing it on .. think of their personality.. If they had to have something physically/mentally wrong with them. what would it be?.. Try and relate everything you create back to the characters background aswell .. i know it can all seem really irelevant at the moment.. but this is neccesery if you are going to create a character that is original and believeable.
Also think about how this person that you are basing it on reacts in social situations... could there be something distinctive about her/him that makes them rememarable? If so .. try and incorperate this into your charatcter.
