I find that the best time to study my lines is just before i go to bed. You may not think that much is being absorbed, but you will be surprised that as you munch on your breakfast, you find yourself quoting snippets here and there. Then when you go back to revise your lines you will find it easier to remember them. Also, don't attempt to memorize the whole lot at once but set yourself targets. For example, aim for mastering half a page to one page a day. If you have a time limit and need to know your lines by a stipulated date, then set yourself targets accordingly. As for the technique itself, i have various ones. Repetition is always good, but sometimes i find that i need to pinpoint a key word in every cue and highlight it with a special pen. When i hear that word, it triggers my memory and the page seems to appear in my mind's eye. This i suppose is what is called photographic memory. You don't have to be especially talented for this, but with training you will master it enough to get you by.

There are no shortcuts. You simply have to memorize it. Some folks find it easier to record the lines and learn it by listening back to it.

You can make a song about it or you turn it into a fantaisy and keep thinking about the scene like it really happened.

some of the time i write and say it out loud at the same time. that helps me a lot for some reason. while i do other things like household stuff repeat over and over out loud. when you get really sick of it and no one is around or you don't mind making a fool of yourself.... sing it in an exaggerated slap happy kind of way.

I stick my script on the outside of my glass shower wall so I read it while I shower. It really helps. I also just run through my lines in my head while doing regular stuff. You don't need to sit down and stare at it to memorise something. I find when I do it at my own leisure I learn it better.

When I had difficulty remembering something, it helped cement it in my mind if I wrote it down....not typed it...wrote it out longhand. It may work for you too!
