Question:I've been asked to write a relatively short play to be produced next year at my school. Anyone have any good tips on getting started? Or any ideas for a storyline, characters, etc would be appreciated. I'm not really sure if I'll go through with this project but I might as well try. Thanks for your tips & ideas!

Well I think that sounds like fun, and is a good way to gain experience without having to have it be perfect and all.

try to read about great playwrights and lot's of plays and well i dont know too much about it but just try it out!

If you were really smart, you would turn down this honor. Playwriting is the most difficult of creative writing. Plays are not what they seem to be. (They are not conversation, for example.) It is important to get training and instruction in playwriting before attempting it. Read a book on playwriting, such as the one written by Louis Catron.
