The only appropriate thing to do would be to ask their advice on how to go about creating a successful career. They are incapable of "getting you up there".

You also say this person is an actor but do not mention if they are a successful actor. If they are having a solid career then they would be a good person to advise you otherwise I would turn elsewhere. But whatever you do not ask them to make you famous. Only you can do that and that is an unfair position to put that person in.

They couldn't really help you..they can't just go up to the director and say hey put her in a movie. It's pretty darn hard and you have to work yourself out to get up there. It takes years unless you get lucky. I'm with an agency and taking everything they give me.
