Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: what do u think

"Where is insanity bred is it in the Heart or in the Head?"
I think that there is a great deal of emotional conflict within the character of hamlet especially when it comes to his family and what he feels due to the events that transpire both before and during the play.

i wouldnt say hes clinically insane, but he definatley goes a bit mad/depressed

Well there are different degrees of insanity and then there's temporary insanity.

I think he's somewhere in the middle of those two.

He's portrayed as a manic depressive.

I do not think he is insane, as he clearly states he is acting on "antic disposition". When he talks to Ophelia so harshly, he gives her clues as to leave and get away, a cruel to be kind act, his attempt to save her with out giving himself away. He is not mad with insanity. He clearly puts deep thought into each action he intends to preform.

actually yes he starts off OK but by the end of the play he is totally mental !
