Position:Home>Theater & Acting> In Macbeth, how do rhyming couplets associate the witches with evil?

Question:well the thing about Shakespeare is he throws them in all over the place. with regard to the witches though, it contributes to a trance-like state. incantations are often rhyming and don't have the same effect when they're not. it's as though the very language itself is consumed by the incantation-effect, and, in turn, by the evil. hope this helps!!

im not sure

It hints that they are chanting, like spells and stuff.

when you hear spells they rhyme so evil is associated with spells yes?

Its like they are saying a spell. Everything is planned just like the rhyming couplets, you know what the rhyme scheme is...if that makes sense.

They're trying to say the way they rhyme makes them evil because of their black hats too.
