From an actress's standpoint, I know how bothersome and wretched it is when the person manning the sound booth is inadequate; and I really appreciate it when the person is knowledgable in what they are doing. But hey, don't quit before you even weigh the chances! What I mean is, don't worry about what you are going to do if you DON'T get a lead before you even see the cast list. Negativity never helps, although I'm sure you were just being proactive and not a pessimist. Good luck! -Pelagia I'm an independent filmmaker, so I've all the different things you can do on a film. I don't enjoy all of them, but I can't tell you what you would enjoy. Here are a few jobs in a film, in approximate order of difficulty/skill-required (you can look these up if you don't know what they are): Director Composer DP/Cinematographer Writer Camera Operator Boom Operator Recording mixer Sound Designer Editor Set Designer Production manager Wardrobe Designer Assistant director Set builder Gaffer/Electrician Dolly Grip Grip Script Supervisor/Continuity (Very important job!!!) Makeup Location Scout PA (Production Assistant) Artists of various kinds (Special FX, Matte Painters, Set painters, etc) Storyboard Artist There are more, but I'm guessing they aren't going to have all these in a school film project. In fact, it's likely what they will do is combine a lot of these, so one person will be doing 2 or more jobs (same thing in independent film). |
