Question:I just wanna know how do you get discovered as an actress/actor. I know there are castings and stuff but I watched an interview with Vivica A. Fox today and she said she was discovered by whom ever. What does that mean? Does it mean that she was walking down the street and someone came up to her and said "will u work for me?'' Or did she actually go to a casting?

Get head shots taken and put together a resume of what experience you have. Staple it to the back of the headshot. First, you need to search for talent agents in your area. Try a phone book or an online search. Then you should call them and they will tell you to send in a self adressed stamped envelope and headshot/resume and they will set up an appointment. Go in and audition, they will probably ask you to do a monologue and maybe sing if you do. They will send you a letter or call you if they like you. From there, you will register and they will need 20 headshots and resumes for their files. They will submit you for auditions and call you if the casting directors wish to see you. Don't listen to what most famous actors say, it's not likely you will just be "picked up or discovered" by another person. She probably went to a casting call and got lucky.

Keep in mind being an actor is so tough, sometimes it's not about talent, it's just about what they're looking for. It is very difficult to support yourself on an actors salary. Make sure you think before you act. Alot of rejection comes with acting.

Well, I guess you start going out for local plays and if in one of them there's an agent in the audience and you're really good then he/she might consider you.

You could also hire an agent and they'll hook you up.

Well, noone gets chosen at a casting call the first time, expect to get turned down and such. If you wanna become big, I suggest you get an agent, they will fill you in on open roles and auditions. Oh and most celebs start in commercials. But noone gets asked to be in a movie or what not, Unless they were famous to begin with.

I've been in several movies which include, Slowman, Employee of the Month, Beer Fest, & Love N' Dancing, <--- In Those ones I was just an extra. It wasn't till "THE GAME" (not yet released) which was How I got discovered. I working on a movie set as an extra when I was asked to read lines for a part in the movie! I always knew that working as an extra would help me. I think it may also help you.

Tips While working as an extra: Be HAPPY, Be very very outgoing with EVERYONE!, act like you belong. I'm sure you will be discovered these ways! it worked for me! believe in yourself!!!!
