Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Am I too old to start playing the piano?? 13 years old? And what are some good p

Question:Pianoists usually start when their young, like at the age of 5 or 6, etc. I don't want to be super good like intense, but I want to know a couple songs here and there. I feel like I'm too old to start, I'm 13 going on 14 in 5 months!!
So I'm wondering
1. Am I too old to start playing the piano?
2. What are some good piano songs. [beethoven, etc.]

My wife teaches piano. She has a few students that are in thieir thirties that just started. It is never too late to learn a skill like piano.

As far as music, I suggest ode to joy. It is a funpiece that you would enjoy. Of course it can be as hard of easy as you want it to be. Anything by Beethoven is great on piano.

Good luck with your dream.

Never too old to start! Beethoven is good, but start with very simple songs. You should get a piano teacher or have an experienced friend help you and they'll help with song choice depending on how good you are. Just have fun and work hard! Good Luckk!

your not too old to start learning piano...its easier when you are younger but if you are determined you will get there...i have been playing for 13 years now....its easy enough to learn as for your second question....it all depends what interests you....you can get piano books with easy to read music for all types of music....modern...rock and roll...tv and film...classical...etc.
