Strongly agree with you.
As an student studying acting and the arts myself, i belive all children should have the chance to apreciate it.

Yes...but maybe pay per study. The core components are not even covered accurately.

I suppose they are still there, but the full potentional isnt exposed. although if the child does have a passion for it they can take it at a higher level of education, such as gcse, and a-level etc..

They should most definetely be put back into the schools. Kids would grow up being well rounded. Fat chance of this happening though............

definitely, kids should be able to learn all types of things at school that can better themselves

an experiment was done briefly in some select private schools ( I think catholic), where the arts and the precepts of philosophy (ie critical thinking), were taught it had a rather dramatic effect on general overall gradings but I forget the actual figures, sorry about the vaugeness it was some time in the eighties from memory

of course. the arts teaches children creativity and at the same time it gives them a chance to express themselves.

The manner in which art is taught should be retooled. Children should be taught art history; how was art used to capture the history of the time they were created in; why did particular styles of painting come into being and why are they prevalent to that time?

For an extracurricular class a more "hands on" art class would be appropriate (how to paint, draw, sculpt, etc.) But fore "core" classes, art history should be necessary.

You're only partially right. Yes, in some cities and some states, the arts are indeed still absent from school programming. However, other cities and other areas have huge, thriving arts programs with marching bands, orchestras, choruses, and drama departments even producing huge musicals. It's very common.

Judging from your grammar, you actually *are* one of the children you are talking about, and your particular school does not have much arts programming.

Yes, definitely

Heck yes,

I went to 4 high schools, (we moved around alot) and not one of them offered a decent arts programme, their highlight of the year was some crappy talent show, and when i requested to put on a play or musical it was denied due to lack of funding and teachers who couldnt be bortherd with all the hassle.

what is with the lack of enthusasim these days,
