How to break through into the acting industry?

Question:I live in NYC, and am studying journalism. I'm also interested in acting, and know I'm talented but I'm also very shy. Anyone have any tips on who to get in contact with?

you need to find yourself an agent, look for them in acting magazines ect, the agent will then be able to find you work and you will be on your way. The acting industry is very competitive so you need to make sure you carry on with the journalism as well . The acting industry is great fun but very hard to make it big. good luck :)

If you feel your a bit shy, I would recommend that you take some private classes so you can focus on that problem because acting is: ALL ABOUT ME! EVERYTHING'S ABOUT ME! You have to be confident!
So to do this get private classes and ask the teacher to work on that problem so they can do exercises with you to improve your confidence, then get an agent and audition till you get your big-break! Good luck.
