Jack the Ripper or Sweeney Todd?

Question:which play would you prefer to go watch on Halloween?

I would like to see a take on Jack the Ripper. Sweeney Todd has been done enough...I have never seen any stage production regarding Jack...

Sweeney Todd, although Sondheim CAN be hard to do, if you are doing the musical version.

Jack the Ripper could be more interesting, but it also has the potential to be a disaster. He mutilated his victims {prostitutes}....I don't know, but to me at least, it wuold be a little bit boring to never see it happen. You would have to do it behind shadows or something, to make it more realistic.

You know, when I think about it, neither is very appropriate for schools....oh well.

sweeny todd as its a story ..J the R did some awful things that you'd have to portray

Its more interesting and an "unsolved crime" they dont know who it was and there's alot of mystery behind it whereas with Sweeney Todd we know who it was and what happened.
You could make it your own....using your opinion in it and your view on the crime.

Sweeny Todd...but you need to check if the rights are currently available for your school to perform it.

And for the person who said Sweeny Todd was a real crime...it is FICTION. It was written in installments, as was 'Oliver Twist' and 'The Woman in White'.

Sweeney is BY FAR the scarier of the two and a better production with better music. Jack may butcher his women, but he doesn't send their bodies down a chute to be ground into meat pies in the bakery below him. Also, simce we're not real sure who JTR was, the closest we can come is "possibly a royal." But Sweeney was unjustly imprisoned and is returning to exact vengeance.
