in my humble opinion, anybody could be acting but it depends on what you want and be specific. for example - you might be happiest just doing local plays and not being paid for it. many people do this and love it. it builds confidence and you meet plenty of great people.

on the other hand, do you want to be a star? and if so what type? movies? tv? theatre?

if thats the case you may be in for a long hard road. training is the key and accepting offers to start that may be less than ideal. you can gain experience and knowledge of the ins and outs of the industry plus solidify your intenions within the industry.

many famous actors start in theatre and work hard for many years to be 'overnight' successes.

versitility and presence is a bonus in the industry. play an instrument, sing or dance can be benefical to you on your search.

i prefer to think in more poitive terms like 'following direction;' rather handle critisism. (even tho thats a good trait to have)

many people think they can walk into the industry knowing so little about it but the fact is that it'll chew you up and spit you out faster than it takes to send away one head shot.

what sets you apart from your peers or sticking out from the rest?

my story is about how i scored a TV commecial thinking carefully before doing the actual audition.

i was to play an office dork at a christmas party trying to hit on the girls etc.

i busted open an ink pen and splattered it all down the breast pocket. they certainly remembered me! it was a simple and effective way of retaining their attention.

Just be the best you can be. Take classes, audition for everything, read every book you can on the business, learn about marketing so when the time comes to start looking for an agent, you will know how to sell yourself.
As far as sticking out, being insanely talented helps. If you fall into this category, you should be getting leads in shows you audition for.
