Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Getting a headshot?

Question:I want to get a headshot for acting/modeling, and I've got a few questions:

1. Where in Birmingham, AL can I get one? Would something like JCPenny's photography in the mall suit me?

2. What do I wear? (I'm fifteen, plus-sized girl.)

3. I have short (slightly above shoulder) wavey hair...should I straighten it?

4. I never wear make-up, so what should I do? Should I get someone to do it for me, or try it myself? Do I just need to just hide my zits with coverup and powder or do eyeshadow/eyeliner/etc.

Thanks for all your help!

Don't go to the mall or macy's, google headshot photographers in your area and a ton should pop up. Portrait shots will look amature, as most headshots are made to look candid. They're not, but they look klike they are.

Wear what you would wear if you were going out with friends. Nothing super fancy or patterned, but simple, chic, and you. Stay away from thick fabrics (make you look heavier on film) and black...

Wear your hair the way you would wear it at any audition. And your make up will most likely be provided for you. If it is not, just do natural highlights and lowlights, and a bit of lipstick and eyeliner/mascara. You don't want to look super made up, but you do want your features to stand out on camera.

Headshots are fun! GL!
