Depends on what the play was about.

For example, if two people were dating but she finds someone else and marries that one...I would suggest "The Worst That Could Happen" by Brooklyn Bridge.

But that song would not work if say, a father was dying in the arms of his son. That may work better with a single guitar or violin playing lightly but with a somber melody.

The subject of the drama could change the music that should go with it rather dramatically.
