It would help if we could see the photo. Also, you could search ibdb.com for shows that opened in 1939 and 1940. Most shows back then did not run several seasons, so chances are, unless it is a long-running, massive hit, it opened in those years, before the date on the photo. (Providing it is actually a Broadway production.) Another consideration - Integrated shows were not very common back then though. In fact, they were rare.
