Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Top contributors on theater and acting please! modeling/acting question?

Question:My friend and I are both very interested in acting and/or modeling. We have both been offered modeling/acting opportunities, and we both went and got in, but the prices were way too high. I have heard that a legit agency does not charge, only works on commission. I am 13 and 5'2'' weighing 98 pounds. She is 4'8'' and 13 and weighing 85 pounds. We both have brown hair and hazel eyes. are there any good agencies out there that are willing to work with people our age, and yes, we are experienced.

My first comment would be that acting and modeling are two different things. Although there are those that break through immediately and without training, actors most often train very hard getting as much experience as possible, and many hold college degrees in theatre, film, or performance.

And far as agents go, you are correct. A reputable agent does not charge simply to represent you. They would take 10% to 15% of any jobs they book for you. Some agents would also require that percentage of any work you do, whether they booked it for you or you went out and got the job yourself.

I assume that you are dealing with agencies that handle kids. Unfortunately, young aspiring models in smaller cities and towns have to take what they can get agent-wise. Often, even if they do not charge a fee up front, they will disguise it by charging you for a portfolio or classes.

of course there are. i model too and my agency has costs me so much money it isnt even funny, and they havent done anything for me so you just need to look out for agencies that cost you a lot of money. I think if they charge some its fine but idk

That depends on where you are. The only people that can get you an agent are your parents. So get them involved. It is not a good idea to team up with a pal to try to get into the business. The competition will destroy your friendship.
