Hi,

There are a number of different kinds of flying apparatus for theater, but you may have trouble finding one that a) looks realistic, and b) you can rent without also having to hire a professional who knows how to use it. (There may be safety issues involved, where the people who rent it are legally prevented from letting you run it yourself.)

You may want to look into other effects -- I'm assuming that you're staging the Ascencion. Maybe staging something like the actor playing Jesus is on stage in a specific place, and there's a big light behind him, shining directly into the audience's faces, and it just gradually gets brighter and brigheter and brighter throughout Jesus' line -- and then at the very end, when the light is all the way up, the actor playing Jesus ducks out of sight and the light cuts out a moment later -- and it looks like Jesus has "mysteriously vanished". (There are Broadway shows that obscure things onstage by flashing bright lights directly into the audience's face for a moment, so this could work.)

You could get someone to act it. Isn't that what it's all about?
