Is "Pinstripes and Polkadots" a good name for a musical?

Question:I'm thinking of writing a musical called "Pinstripes and Polkadots". Good name? Stupid name? I think it'll take place in the '40s, and have swing dancing in it a lot.

heya. Im listening to Sinatra music right now (music from the 40's/ 50's) when I saw your question. I definitly think it's a catchy title because its very vivid but doesn't get too specific in what it conotates. Basically you get a good idea of what the musucal will probably be like but it doesn't give away the story.

It's basically getting a taste of things (just enough to intrigue you) so that you (the audience) feel compared to find out more (hence seeing the show).

If I were randomly walking down the street and saw a billing for "Pinstripes and Polkadots: The Musical" that would be more than enough to get me to buy an impromptu admission!

I say go for it! And if you can work in some kind of deep/ meaningful metaphor for the title (asside from the obvious being clothing styles) you'd have a real winner!

Catchy name, but it immediately made me think that it could have been the long-lost title of Guys and Dolls, which takes place in exactly the same period. But maybe that's good.

Not bad. Especially if it is sort of an old-school romance, no "adult themes" sort of thing. The name evokes girls in skirts and guys in sharp suits, so if that is the imagery you are going for, then it is a great name!
