Always write from "your own backyard" - in otherwords write from your own experience. I used something in drama class where I just did waking up, turning off the alarm, getting ready to go to school, arguing with my mother, slamming doors, running for a bus, etc leading up to coming to my drama class to present my presentation. I just worked out an outline and just filled it in from there - give that one a go or something else that is personal but slice-of-life. Please let me know how you did, okay?

I like ones with surprise endings, like you're describing something that sounds really scary or gross or risque, but in the end it's just something boring like you were cleaning the bathtub in the summertime or something.

If it doesn't have to be serious, maybe you could pretend that you are hosting Saturday Night Live and are doing your opening monologue ("thanks, great to be here, wanted to dismiss those rumors about xyz, speaking of which I'm promoting my new movie/album abc, etc.)

Can you have music in the background? I've always wanted to play the Doogie Howser theme song softly in the background while I briefly tell what I did that day, and always ending with a thoughtful reflection or meaningful lesson.

Research Shakespeare.
You want Hamlet.
It was a sort of monologue.
Failing that, watch late nite TV. All the shows have one as the intro.
The king od monologues was Johnny Carson -- Google him. Should be an example on Utube.
