Question:Hi! I have an audition for the national youth theatre soon and I was wondering if you could recommend any really good audition speeches? Also, what will they be looking for at the audition? Can you give me any advice?

Thanks a lot!

first, its not called a "speech" its called a monologue....thought you should probably know that first...haha

you should just pick a famous play or your favorite movie and google "monologues from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" or whatever your favorite movie/play is.

they will be looking for ENERGY. so make sure you don't just sit there and say your speech. become the character. and if you are nervous, take a deep breath and hold it for 4 counts and then blow it out for 8 counts. it always works. have fun! and i hope you get in !

my advice is that if you want to be an actor you had better read every play you can get your hands on--that's where the good speeches are. they will be looking to see if you have any promise as an actor. Be very well prepared.

Search for monolouges online. Find one you like and then learn about the charecter who is speaking so you can become more like them.

As for me, I use Shakespeare plays, mainly the comdies. If you made a suggestion from me, I suggest As You Like It or the Tempest.

Now, when it comes to trying out, don't hold back your talent. Give them all you got. Why? Because that is what they are looking for!

Good luck and break a leg!

There are some good ones here.

if you find something you like please read the play, nothing sabotages an auditon more than a misinterpretd monologue
