I have seen "This is a Test" done at least three times...it's ridiculous how much that play is done...

Pretty much anything Shakespeare
Any classic musical (Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Annie, etc.)
Alice in Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz are also popular

It sounds like everyone is doing High School Musical this year, but I would have to say Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, West Side Story.

I can't tell you from experience because my high school was pretty avante garde, we did obscure plays about South Amercian people being oppressed and women in Africa forced to marry not for love, and bizarre diatribes of protest against the China's impossed atrocities on tibet.

Not bad for a pretty much all caucasian school.

I guess it really depends on what your drama department heads want to do.
