Position:Home>Theater & Acting> If you had to choose between Avenue Q and Lion King which would you see on Broad

Question:I'm going to New York over the summer and my friends want to see The Lion King on Broadway, but I really want to see Avenue Q. I was just wondering, if you had to choose, which one would be better.

Please only answers from people who have seen the shows or know enough about both to make an informed decision. Thanks!

These are two completely different genres so they really shouldn't be compared... but if I must...

If you are looking for dirty humor, lots of laughs, a few gasps, and an all-around good time (must be very open), Avenue Q is what you want.

If you are looking for a classic, "oooh aaah" type of show where you know the story like the back of your hand and long to see how it's been interpreted this time, Lion King is the way to go.

Either way, they are both great shows but neither should be compared to the other... Therefore, SEE BOTH! :D

... on a personal note, however, If I had to choose between the two, I would see Lion King, if only because it is an incredibly classic story that is unavoidably charming. I almost feel like Lion King is the essence of Broadway at it's best.

if you are looking for charming, raw humor, avenue q, definitely. but the lion king is life altering, i've seen it myself, it's amazing!!! definitely, the lion king :D

Lion King, story more elaborate, setting's better, animal metaphor's interesting...so yeah...

lion king hands down

lion king is the best all of my friends and best friends watchs it all the time we know every line and we watched it 98 times in a row...LION KING RULES

Frankly, I'd stay in.

That's a really hard decision to make. Both shows are great, but it just depends on what you prefer to see. The Lion King is visually pleasing and the story is basically the movie on stage but better. Avenue Q is great for laughs. I think you would have a good time at both, you just need to decide what you would prefer to see.

The Lion King is definitley amazing, but so is Avenue Q.
If you go onto youtube, you can watch scenes from both shows and it might help you decide.
Overall, it depends on what your preferences are and whether or not you like talking puppets a lot, or just a little bit (Lion King has some puppetry, Avenue Q has a lot).

Lion king is sooo much fun. I saw it when i was in grade 10 and i want to see it again.

Although Avenue Q is pretty cool too. but Lion king would be my pick
