Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Odd question...how can I make my voice hoarse?

Question:OK..odd question right?

Well, I'm in a play at my school and plays are taken pretty seriously here. The actors and actresses are really cool and every one looks up to them. ANY WAYS, I have a kinda small part in the play, but my character has lost her voice and can barely speak. Easy right? The only problem is, it sounds so fake when I pretend to have lost my voice. The director says I have to make it more believable by the first performance.

What can I do to strain/make my voice hoarse?

I've done this one before, and it'll sound weird. Try lots of screaming, do it into a pillow so you don't freak the neighbors out. Followed by lots of lemon juice. Then do some more screaming. Good luck.

Try screaming at the top of your lungs.Your vocal cords have muscles so exercise them
