Step up 2 acting?

Question:is it me or the girl from step up 2 didn't really know how to act. to me she seemed like she was trying to get "ghetto". i have nothing against her i just don't seem like she was a good actor.

i remember hearing somewhere that they only auditioned dancers for the part, it wasn't really based on acting (just dancing ability). i didn't really pay much attention to the acting though because the dancing was insane!!

I am very certain she was picked for her dance-a-bility :)
