Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is it okay to give your e-mail address for an audition?

Question:Okay hi I want to audition for Disney channel and found this website http://actinginfo.blogspot.com/
where they post audition dates for Disney channels shows and movies. Somewhere there they write you should never give your home address. And I understand that and don't want to give my home address.
Okay my question know is: What address should you give?I mean how should they reply to you? So is it okay to give your e-mail? Pleas don't tell me that I need an agent I know that but everybody has got to start!

Giving your e-mail address is should be fine.

I would also run a quick google search on the casting director and the production company. You can find our fairly quickly whether they are legit and whether the address is actually correct for the casting director and production company.

Whenever possible check out the information provided in an audition notice and make sure it feels legit before sending your picture and resume.

And in response to the person who answered above me - -

A lot of people will tell you to get an agent. An agent is only something you should seek once you are a trained, polished, working actor. Not when you're starting out.

It seems to be a popular myth in this forum that you NEED an agent to be a working actor. That is simply not true. You can find a lot of auditions and jobs on your own without an agent. I have done professional theatre, films, and national television all without an agent.

If you are really going to go for NYC or LA and have already built up your resume, have years of training, good reputation and press, then, yes, you probably do want to pursue an agent - but an agent is really NOT the place to start.

email addresses are ok to give

you say not to tell you to get an agent and that 'everybody has got to start' -- but everybody gets an agent when they start! your agent will help you with this question and make sure that this is a legitimate audition that you are signing up for!

PO box or e-mail u can give

The email is okay to give, but if the project is not legit be prepped for spam-o-rama in your box.
