Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Grease outfits! Help!?

Question:My school is putting on Grease for our spring musical and I have to find all my own outfits because they cut our costume funding. I have the part of Jan, she's one of the pink ladies. Tha problem is, I have NO IDEA what styles of clothes I'm suspossed to get. Can anyone describe them to me? Or have a link to similar clothes? I have to find outfits by March and I really need help. Please, if you know anything about their clothes let me know!! Thanks!

um, buy some capri pants. Plain ones though, in whatever colors you can find... at least one dark colored jean, one kacki, and one black or leather if possible. it's best if they have it so you can roll them up a bit for a long cuff on them, but have them still in the same place they should be. Thats not important though, but capris defintily. ---also known as clamdiggers in some parts of the country.

For shirts, 3/4 sleave sweaters -nicely fitted--make sure you if you only get one of these that it's black so you could use it in the one scene with the leather or black pants, plaid pattern shirts (but not small plaid, like Big chunks of plaid in pastel colors)---tie these in a knot. a mom or an aunt or anyone from the 80's should know two types of knots to tie them in that'll look right.

High heals in fabolous colors.

Also try to find a poodle skirt. or make your own out of a tulle slip and a long skirt with pleats.

Jan is the annoying one... you know Brusha Brusha Brusha chick! she has pig tails and i think she just wore a black skirt to the knees with a white shirt and her pink ladies jacket! you may want to go to goodwill! i have made a super mario costume and the scooby doo gang costumes from there! i just piece them together! or look online at buycostumes.com i get halloween wigs etc from there!

you could search up on the internet for a picture of her.
then search "grease outfits" or just go on a halloween store on the internet and get one of the outfits on there.
or something like that.

okay so grease is my favoritest movie of all time.
im not one of those kinds of people that say that about every movie i like.
grease is my ultamite favortie.
so jan is kinda the goofy silly one of the pink ladies.
i would wear some like black skinny jeans
and you HAVE to get a pink ladies jacket.
and get a pink scarf to tie around your neck.
and i believe she wore saddle shoes through most of the movie.
so if you get some of those youre set.
if not saddle shoes...just get some white keds.

the other outfit is a full skirt below the knees.
high socks.
and a cardigan.
go for yellows and browns and pinks.

The high school in my town did Grease last Spring and the Pink Ladies all wore Pink Jackets (satin-like) and white shirts with black skirts(pencil) past the knee. There were also a bunch of girls wearing "poodle skirts" in the show.
This musical takes place in the 1950's so that is the style you want to look for. It might help to look up the styles of teens in the 1950's. Think Rock & Roll...
As to where to get the costumes, it would probably be best to look in a second-hand clothing shop or perhaps buy some used clothing on ebay. Have fun!
