Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What's the best way to learn lines from a script?

Question:Okay, I've got a GCSE exam at the end of April-ish, and I need to be out-of-script in one week, give or take a few days. Does anyone have a really good way to learn a script without the help of anyone else? I can't really think about good ways to learn it and I'm starting to panic a little. please help! :) x

In the past have literally learnt one sentence after another e.g. learn first sentence in speech then first two then first three and so on. I used to gradually reveal lines by sliding a ruler down the page as I spoke them! Putting them onto tape or CD and playing them in your car or on personal players also works. If it's lines of duologue - then you have to learn your own lines - and also the last word or couple of words of previous speaker's lines. Anyway - good luck!

Read Them And Read Them And Read Them
Or Repeat Yours Over Again
Or Write Them Aout Loads

I got My GCSE At The Beginning Of April

And Ours Isnt Even Finished Being Made Yet

Ahhh!

It'll be Fine
If It All Goes Wrong Just Improvise!

Use a mini recorder to tape yourself saying them. Then listen and recite until you don't need the script or the tape.

Write them down, and if there is nay emotion, feel the emotion. Because if you forget the script but the emotion is there, the lines will come out. Just read them over and over and over again! Really get familari with them, and the 1st time you doubt yourself is the time you quit! So dont worry, if you practice and put the work into it, you will be awesome!
