I don't know why they wouldn't love both of these individuals. They both bring unique characteristics to the theater program and the university.

I don't think the fact that actor #1 can make everyone laugh is an asset to a university theater program. But in the written application, we can assume he/she will reflect their sense of humor, that will show the person is warm and enjoyable.

Overacting can be re-trained if the candidate is open to coaching.

You're focusing on the wrong things in either case.

The truth is, University Theatre Departments will be more inclined to select someone who moves them. It doesn't matter if Actor 1 can't speak English. Does she MOVE them? It doesn't matter if Actor 2 speaks superlative English. Does she MOVE them?

Audiences, whether panels of educationists or village idiots, want to be MOVED. That's theatre's strength. Theatre moves the audience. Anything less is rejected.

you've asked this 4 times already.

It depends on a lot more then if their memorable. The theater department might want a certain look, or a certain acting style.

BTW, I don't think pronunciation would matter because that can be fixed.
