Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Writing Children's Theater Script?

Question:I am writing a script for my fourth graders (10 years old), but I'm having a difficult time determining how many lines are too many. I don't want to under estimate them, but at the same time I don't want to overwhelm them. Are there any guidelines I should be following? I couldn't find any sites on this topic.

There are no guidelines because each child is different.

Some can memorise whole blocks of text. Some have problems with just a line. Some instinctively know how to read a script (when do I come in, Ma'am?). Some don't.

Only you can tell. Don't hesitate to write a script that incorporates the strengths of the students in your class.

Hope this helps. If not, I'll be happy to discuss it further.
