Show biz?????

Question:I'm a male, 6 ft, about 145 lbs., and have good grades in school~~~ I'm a junior. Well my parents expect me to be a lawyer or something along those lines, but what I really want to do is be an actor. I want that life that they have, but how would I tell my parents that? And what do you think I would have to do to start in show biz (small shows maybe...or commericals)? Thanks for your help...

"The life that they have?" You mean famous people? There are easier ways to do it. It's often said that 95% of the membership of the Screen Actor's Guild is unemployed during some part of the average year, and 5% have steady jobs.

But if that's what you want to do, find an actor's studio and take some classes. Learn song, improv, and acting for commercials. TV work is a little easier to get, and commercials help your resume. Audition for everything. Get a good head shot (photo). Work on some student and independent films and get copies of them to put on DVD's to show off your acting.

To keep your skills "warm", audition for communitity theater bits and try not to develop too much ego or insecurity. Treat it as a job and not a fantasy and you'll be on the right track.
