Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This can be in an amateur or professional capacity.

On a professional production, the leading actor would get to the famous speech of the play in rehearsals and put on silly voices all the way through. I understand when an actor has difficulty finding their character, but he didn't even seem to be trying. This carried on through the whole rehearsal period and when the play finally got into the theatre, his voice dropped and he could hardly be heard (the theatre was a small one). The voice coach didn't manage to get him talking loudly for ages. I guess he finally started to find his character during the first few weeks of the show, by which time he had gone right down in my estimation and I hated the way he finally played the role.

As per usual, those actors who I have not particularly enjoyed working with always seem to end up on TVin some drama or other. Just when I think the job is over and I don't have to see them, there they are on my TV!!

I worked on a show called Sustained Winds about Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and my scene partner was so annoying and so unprofessional. She was union, and i am not, yet when the scene ended in rehersal she would just through up her hands and say to the director "We're done." Then, after the director gave us notes, she would pull me aside and tell me what she thought i should and shouldnt do for the character. I bit my tongue the whole time (to be the bigger person) but in my mind i was thinking: "who is she to tell me about MY character? Does she think this is my first show or something? I got really annoyed that she treated me like crap instead of a professional actor...have some respect.

Working on a childrens showing of Cinderella, I experinced the most annoying actress I have worked with in my career. The step-sisters and step-mother were all brats. They acted like prima-donnas and gave a hard time to the techies. I remember the actress who played the step-mother stop to coustumer from working on the princes coustume so that bloomers could be made for the step-mother. The rest of the cast wanted to kill these three ladies by the end of the show.

The most annoying type of actor to work with is the one that thinks that they are going to be in the scene and then start trying to direct you in it also. It really sucks when a fellow actor starts trying to give you a line reading. I have had that happen only a few times in the theatre.

I'm not naming names. People who try to "rehearse" the scene so you'll play your character the way they want.

Actors who talk loudly backstage DURING the show.

People who argue with the director during notes- just say "Ok" and move on!

P.S.--- Oh one more. An actress didn't show up one night for performance. An understudy had to go on, script in hand. The next night, the original actress returned as if nothing had happened. I guess she felt it was ok to "skip school" the evening before.
