Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Piercings & Tattoos for Theatre??

Question:I'm in theatre, and I love piercings and tattoos, but it's difficult to decided on them when you have to change for characters. I won't do anything genital (eww) but, and I'm getting a tattoo at the end of the summer, I just need to know where would be a good place to get it, and what kind of piercings I could get.

I've had my nose pierced, but I had to take it out for stage so much, that it grew back in (they can see the spacers in box theaters). I also don't really want to get the tattoo on my lower back (tramp stamp and all that you know). If you want to see what my tattoo will look like, then look here: <a href="http://s241.photobucket.com/albums... target="_blank"><img src="http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/... border="0" alt="theatre masks with music tattoo design"></a>

Thanks so much guys!! :)

Perhaps on your lower stomach?

I've been told absolutely NO tats for theatre. The best rule to go by is can you see it in a classical costume? But still I've been told by directors that if you don't have one you shouldn't get one. As for piercings, most directors don't care, because you can take them out. Although, I see what you mean about them closing up.

I attended 2 theatre degree programs, and they are very stringent about tattoos and piercings.

Why? Piercings get in the way physically. Tongue piercings can permanently give you a lisp.

Tattoos limit the kinds of characters you will be considered for. Yes, they can be covered, but that is time-consuming, and time is money.

I hate to say it, because tattoos are cool, but it's best to keep your "canvas" neutral.

well it depends if your playing a role that involves piercings and tatoo's otherwise defenatly not!!
