My headshot photographer is Peter Hurley in NY. He's very expensive, but very, very good, well-respected and worth it. Recognizing that not everyone is able to pay high prices for his services, he has formed a group of photographers with whom he works closely and to whom he has given his stamp of approval.
Here's the link to his PH2 site and his NY photographer: http://www.peterhurley.com/ph2/bryanbowd... .

Before you rush off and get those shots though, here are some things to consider.
1) I just interviewed a Hollywood acting teacher named Bernard Hiller, who has been teaching for 29 years. In the interview he told me that he recommends "...that new actors wait until they have some training before they get headshots taken." The reason, he said has to do with power. He said that once you are trained at least somewhat, you know how to play the camera and project power into it.
Whether or not you should wait is up to you, but I know that good headshots are much about your expression...a real expression that pops and not a fake one.
For more information about headshots; in particular:
1) what to look for in a photographer,
2) questions to ask the photographer before the shoot,
3) how to ensure you will get the best headshots possible,
4) how casting directors might view your headshots

Good luck!

There are loads!
Pick up a Backstage or go to a photo reproduction shop and check out all the ads of the photographers. Talk to your friends in the industry. Choose a minimum of 3 photographers whose pics you like and go set up a meeting, just to get their vibe. Can you shoot comfortably with this person?
Ask them how they see you. Does it match how you see yourself and the roles you want to go after?
Don't forget about the cost of make up. Does the photographer do it? Do they bring is someone? Do they want you to bring in someone?
Then don't forget the reproductions are going to cost some bucks too. Is make-up and repros in your budget?

I wish I could answer this question..!!
