People know what they like.
I've been involved in acting, hosting and speaking publicly now for about four years. From all my classes and experience to date, I would say that good acting is something that happens organically. It happens when actors can totally immerse themselves in the character they are portraying and in the feelings the character has. It comes in part through talent, good, solid training, method and technique and really good listening skills that allow you to put all the focus on your scene partner and take it off of yourself.
I would say that when you start to really take part in this business of being an actress and start to train regularly, you will also start to view movies in a different way.

Sometimes I think that even acting critics don't know what they are talking about!

Good actors are able to BECOME the character (Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Heath Ledger r.i.p.)
Bad actors just read the script without putting any emotions into it. (JESSICA ALBA)

See, i never notice or know the difference either... unless perhaps my dad is like "man he can't for his life" then maybe i'll pay close attaention and see he is kind of bad, but i usually can't see much of a difference.. if they're in movies today they can't be THAT bad can they?
