Question:i can sing high and low

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i can sing high and low

It's impossible to tell without listening to you. There are soprano's who can sing low and alto's who can sing high, what makes you one or the other (or a mezzo), isn't the actual notes you can sing, but where your voice sounds best (called the tessitura - alto's have a lower tessitura than soprano's)

If your voice sounds better in the lower registers, you're probably an alto, if you have a really rich middle you'e probably a mezzo and if you have lovely, easy high notes you're probably a soprano. However, again, there is crossover in all 3 categories.

Obviously you need this for something, so for the time being - Can you belt or are you more comfortable in your head voice? If you classify yourself as a belter, I would go with alto. If you're more comfortable singing high notes, go with soprano. If you're unsure, go with mezzo.

** I just noticed that you put that you can't really sing in the middle..that's interesting. What that means is you haven't learned how to smooth the breaks (passagio) in your voice when you transition from chest voice to head voice. A voice teacher can help you with that. In that case, for whatever's purposes you're using this for, I would go with soprano since you'll probably be able to exclusively use your head voice whereas alto's will go into the middle range a lot.

You could be a mezzo soprano, depending on how high your notes are, or you might just have a broad range.

You are blessed 2 have a voice---I just had a tumor removed from my vocal cords!! May U never go there!!! If U can sing-SING- doesn't matter hi or low---- You are blessed with a voice--- Please use It!! Never take the unforseen 4 granted!!
