Position:Home>Theater & Acting> A good story for a musical?

Question:Most musicals I have seen, I've noticed that they are based off some story like Phantom of the Opera was based off a book just like Wicked as well. Cats was based on poems too. So, if you were going to make a musical, would you base it on a story or make your own story?

Depends are you more of a writer or a composer, I am more of a writer so i would have more fund writing the story, if you are more of a composer consider adapting an exisitng story. What type of music do you write?
As an actress, I would love to be in a musical adaptation of Moll Flanders.

I would base it on my own story, just cuz that would make it original and people would actually enjoy watching it, they wouldn't feel like they've seen it before.

Butttt, if you were to base it on something already done, make it different, like Phantom of the Opera. Instead of people singing, make it based on rap, or something.

Pru, maybe you could do one on a lottery winner. There's all kinds of good and bad stories about winners. Type in lottery losers and see what happens.
