Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How Do I Convince My Parents to Sign the Permission Slip for a School Talent

Question:Today I went to a Talent Show Informational Meeting and they were handing out permission slips for the talent show that is on April 15, 2008 at 7:00PM. My mom and dad said that since I have to be on the bus by 2:00PM everyday and everything that is part of the talent show is at 3:00PM, I would have no way of getting home.

I really want to do the talent show but I don't know how to convince my parents to let me do the talent show. My talent is singing because I love writing and singing my own songs. I have already written over 50 songs of my own and I already picked a song that I was planning on singing for the talent show, but since I have no way of getting home from school (if I stay after school) I can't do the talent show.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to convince my parents to let me do the talent show???? I already tried begging and that didn't work. So please help me.

Thank you and have a great day!!!!

Are any of your friends participating in the Talent Show? Ask them if you could ride home with them (to their house afterwards) or ask if their parents could bring you home. Set this up ahead of time. If your parents don't know the friend's parents ... have them meet or at least arrange a phone call so that everyone knows and trusts each other. Then, sing for your parents. They may not realize how talented you really are. If they see how amazing a singer you are ... they will really WANT you in the talent show and be happy to make some arrangements for you. Good luck! I hope you are able to get into the show .. and I hope you WIN!!!

Do you have a friend that could give you a ride? Ask around.

gust beg and then they will say yes

Find someone to bring you home and I'm sure they'll be fine with it..

Can't your parents pick you up or have a friend drive you home?

Ask one of your friends to give you a ride and make a plan that just simply cant fail

let child be freee!
thats what i always say.
let your child be freeee

While we, as artists, may not be able to always do the things we want to because they may be out of our control, the important thing is there will be more opportunities and that you should not give up on your dreams. Honestly, if it is only a school talent show and you can sing and write like you say, then your focus should be more on taking vocal coaching and looking for a professional career some day rather than on small amateur contests. While you should compete in some of them, the ones that you need to compete in are the ones that will show your talent to the people that can hire you, not to your local community. A fan base is important, but you need to learn instruments(piano and guitar especially) and I would recommend you learn to produce your own music as well, as this would allow you to make your own demo(the equipment to do this is fairly inexpensive for an entry level device too).

First thing, how old are you? If you are say 13 or younger, I would try to go with the getting a ride home with a friend that is going to be in the talent show too. If you are 14 and up, I would see if you could maybe take the public transit bus home or get a ride with a friend. It sounds like Mom and Dad are having to work and would have no way to pick you up. Do you have a grandparent that might be willing to pick you up for this short period of time? How many practices are there? Is it once or twice a week or every day? Come up with a doable plan. Then, present the plan to your parents. If public transit is your only option, then get the bus numbers and times and have it mapped out along with the cost. You may need to pay for this yourself. You may need to offer gas money to your ride as well. Good luck to you. Hope this helps, Rail

Do you have a friend who is also in the talent show? If so maybe their ride can take you home. Or maybe even the director could take you home.
God Bless!!!

Ask them why they don't love you anymore. I'm totally kidding but it works for my little brother. As other people have suggested you could get a ride home from a friend. Depending on how far it is you could walk. Maybe you could make a trade with your parents. If they let you do the talent show you'll do extra chores or work harder in school.
