Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What are the best colleges to go to for acting?

Question:I'm only a freshman in high school, but I'd really like to start thinking about this. I am mostly interested in film acting, but I also love theater acting.
I would like:
1. One or two REALLY amazing acting schools that are difficult to get into and very prestigious
2. One or two great schools with great drama programs that are not quite as difficult to get into
3. One or two schools to "fall back" on that are easier to get into but still have good, solid acting programs

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

1. Julliard and SUNY Purchase

2. Rutgers and San Francisco Academy of Art or any school that has an acting major (BFA preferably) that requires an audition and which accepts a limited number of students each year. Really good acting colleges will not require acting majors to do tech work, although most do.

3. If you cannot get into these top tier schools, then you might consider not going to college, but to go to a city where you can become established as an actor and start taking professional classes. (I do not mean going to a professional acting school which I generally distrust.)

NYU!!! <3Mary kate and ashley all the way!!

Westminster Choir College

Check out NYU, Academy of Art University, Pepperdine, North Carolina School of the Arts, and New York Academy of Dramatic Arts.
