Depends on how it's played. Most of the violence in Oedipus occurs offstage as originally scripted. If this is an exam question your teacher isn't thinking things through.

We do the the aftermath of the violence--but look: when we watch shows, do we want to see boring stuff or memorable stuff? Well, the stuff people remember as most exciting in their lives are the moments of violence and sex. All the stuff that Focus on the Family wants to eliminate.

So how does the violence affect the viewing experience? Maybe it makes it interesting. What a concept!
